Is it possible to ship a printer while it is printing during the shipment? PostNL said they are able to do so! I accepted the challenge and designed a trumpet for Eric Vloeimans, the best trumpeter in the Netherlands.

Press release:

Joris van Tubergen designed the package and the trumpet in a way it can really be 3D printed during transport. Is PostNL carefull enough with the package? Every bump in the process can have consequences for the quality. Who-else than Dutch best trumpeter Eric Vloeimans can test that quality. He received the package and blew the horn. Joris van Tubergen: “The sound is so incredible that many people don’t believe it is the real sound from the 3D printed trumpet!”

PostNL ships more than half a million packages a day. Which seems pretty straight forward, but the truth is different. For both web-shops and receivers it is more than normal that all packages arrive at the right time and the right place. A good reason for an extraordinary experiment. PostNL wants to prove their quality and capability to send all kinds of packages. “And the best way to prove that is to sent a package that cannot be sent.”
